Another addition to the family!

Meet Chloe! She's a chocolate lab/pointer mix, who I picked up for free from some family, who could not really care for her. She has far too much energy and is constantly leaking, but she's an amazing pup to have around. She is 6 months old and is one of the most happy go lucky dogs that I have ever met! Cocoa and Chloe have become great friends since her arrival, even though Cocoa spent the first few weeks bullying Chloe around and teaching her the rules of the house. Now they still fight, but spend a lot of their time cuddling, pretty cute.

Cocoa

We've added to the family....A small, soon to be huge pup! Meet Cocoa, a 100% purebred rot. She's one of the most relaxed, smartest, and laziest pups I have ever met. She often won't eat anything unless it is placed directly in front of her and when she is taken outside and does not want to come back in she'll often lay down and roll over to avoid being picked up.

Work

So within the last few months I was hired by this company called Utah Sports Action to shoot that is quite similar to maxpreps.com. Its a brand new company, but they pay well and the job is easy enough. Thats pretty much all I have to say about work...I mean its work...not too exciting...

Work outside of work

Here are images that I particularly liked that aren't action shots.

Images from around the house

Here are just a few random images from random days/events at our house...enjoy

Shyon had a really bad day...He suffered from a second degree burn on his leg and dislocated his shoulder...again...

A horribly planned out excursion

One saturday morning, I was hanging out in our breakfast nook when Mark came out of his room wanting to go on some sort of adventure, since we did not go on an adventure the previous night. After discussing what we should do and where we should go we finally settled on Payson Lakes and fishing. Somehow we managed to convince Sam to join us on our adventure, so we loaded up in my car and took off. We stopped by Mark's parent's house on the way in order to pick up tents, sleeping bags, and rafts. Little did we know that we would forget sleeping bags for Mark and Sam. Anyway we continued on our journey to walmart to purchase food and a frying pan. After a whole mess of tangents we finally made it to the campsite and began setting things up and cooking food. After a few fantastic steaks and a campfire we hit they hay, or Mark and Sam tried to...This is when we discovered that we had forgotten a few sleeping bags and low and behold the temperature dropped and it began to rain and seep into the tent. With the sleepless night finally over we were excited to cook breakfast and get fishing, however, mother nature/karma didn't want us to succeed whatsoever. As we cooked breakfast the burner decided to melt the frying pan and ruin all of our food. And to top it off we weren't able to catch a single fish.

One crazy night...

A
About two months ago now, Alex, Sam, and I were hanging out one night when Sam received a text from his cousin/roommate, stating that his front door of his apartment was open and that he should go check up on it. After awhile we decided to go check things out, just to be safe. As we got there Sam hopped out of the car and ran in, as Alex and I were waiting in the car we could see sam through his living room window pacing. Jokingly Alex and I commented about how it would be funny if someone jumped out of a closet and went the way of Christian Bale in American Psycho on him. Simultaneously, Sam came sprinting out of his house and to the car. As he reached the car he began speaking to us in a whisper stating that his house was on fire. Later we discovered that he was whispering to us, because he did not want to wake the neighbors. In udder confusion we ran into his house to discover that the place was filled with smoke and Sam's room was ablaze. We attempted to battle it with coffee mugs and bowls for a matter of 30 seconds before we decided that it was too much for a few bowls and mugs to handle. At that point Alex had already called 911 and the crazy night began. In a fit of stunned hilarity and disbelief, Alex and I left and decided that it would be best if we returned on our bikes. When we returned we still had not heard from Sam and the police/fire department had arrived, so getting near the vicinity of the house was out of the question. We finally found Sam talking to his neighbors, but he was shortly taken away to discuss with the police. Long story short, Alex and I spent 5-6 hours at the neighbors house while Sam was handcuffed on the ground (while being told the entire time that his story "was full of shit" by the fire marshall), because they believed he had started the fire, even though he had been with us for the entire day. The next day Mark, Alex, Sam, and I went to the remains that was his house to clean it up. Its been almost two months now and Sam still hasn't heard anything about his house...

An odd obsession.

I have this strange obsession/fascination with break dancing...Maybe its cause its something I've wanted to do since I was a kid. As most dreams go I never learned how to break dance, but the guys that perform across the street from Central Park sure can. One day while perusing through the city I happened to come across these guys and ended up spending at least an hour absolutely entranced by them. This wasn't the first time I've seen them and it was the same story last time I saw them, which was about 3 and a half years ago. Anyway this performance had something special that not even the performers knew about. I was sitting there watching their routine and this little asian boy no older than 8 came and sat near me (funny thing was he reminded me of myself as a child) and as the show was drawing to a close he approached one the performers that was spectating and whispered something in his ear and all of a sudden the man stops everything and lets the boy take center stage. Long story short this little kid could dance...

There are...

Far too many people who live in Manhattan...Anyway for the last week and two days I've been in New York, New York and Princeton, New Jersey visiting my two older sisters. It's been a pretty good trip, minus the fact that everything is more expensive in NYC...I spent a lot of time on my own wandering around the city and surrounding islands meeting/taking pictures of all sorts of people from a celebrity to legless hoboes. The highlight of the trip was probably going to a free concert in Rockefeller Center with a performance by Aldous Snow. If you've seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall (the new one) you know who I'm talking about. On the other end of the spectrum of society, I met a whole mess of hoboes and they all had one thing in common...They all wanted to have their pictures taken. One hobo in particular was one of the most fun loving hoboes I've ever met, despite his economic/physical situation. He was missing both of his legs from the Patella down and had these stump covers much like couch covers but for his legs...Anyway when I asked if I could take his picture he gladly agreed but as soon as I started to frame the shot he called out to me telling me to wait one second while he removed his stump covers. I thought this was kinda strange but you have do what you have to do I guess. At one point during the trip I accepted the thought that if I got shot it was my fault...How I got myself into that situation in which those thoughts would come up, I haven't the slightest...Anyway I just wandered into the wrong part of town a.k.a the projects at night and alone with a camera and 2 lenses...I was probably just paranoid but still its not the greatest position to be in...Before this gets too terribly long I'll leave it at that right now and add more stuff later...Now IMAGES! I'll leave it at the artsy fartsy stuff right now and the hobo...

Westminster Lacrosse Tournament

So recently I had to photograph a high school Lacrosse tournament hosted by Westminster College. There were around 20 some odd teams present playing on three different fields, and I was responsible for covering two of them. It was interesting as this was my first attempt at photographing Lacrosse, since I am always playing. Anyway the first 5 or 10 minutes were quite different from anything I've ever shot before, but I quickly figured things out and actually had a pretty great time and continued to develop skin cancer and made some money. Here are some of my favorite images I managed to capture.

Flight to California

On the flight to LAX I sat next to a lovely lady from Botswana going to LA for business. Anyway we chatted throughout the flight and at one point in the flight the light was just right in the plane so I asked her if I could take a picture of her and she said yes enthusiastically. Anyway here are two pictures I got on the flight.
